Indoor Soccer!

So I was so excited to read about this cause I'm a big soccer girl myself. I was trying to find fun things for my one year old to do cause it seems like she always wants me just to hold her. So to become more active I found this idea that is so simple yet I wouldn't think of it by myself. Just take your laundry basket to your kitchen, get some of those soft balls that are great for kids and put them into a bowl about 3-4ft away from the basket. Now you can either let them toss it into the basket or you can put the basket on it's side and they can roll it in.

Chip Dip

So since I've been busy I haven't been able to try out any new recipes but I want to share with you a favorite dip of ours. It was shared with my from some good friends of ours. All you do is take a 8oz thing of sour cream and add a pinch or two of the dry onion soup mix! Easy as that, just enjoy with chips!

Update

Well things have been really crazy around our house and I'm finally getting back on track. I'm sorry it's been a few days but last week on Friday my little girl was attacked by our dog. I ended up having to take her to the ER but she is doing better now and back to her busy self. As for my dog we ended up giving her to the pound, heartbreaking! That was one of the hardest things I've had to do in awhile. She has been my best friend for so long and such a great companion. It was just clearly out of the blues. So I've been busy trying to take care of Megan and getting my house back in order. Unfortunately I haven't been able to keep up with getting my dishes done like I was hoping but I'm back in business now and hoping to make it to the end of the week.

Catch Up

So this has been one of the hardest times for me, and I may just break down in tears as I write this. On Friday evening my little girl who just turned one was attacked by my own dog. I cannot even begin to describe my emotions as I ran to grab my little girl and save her from Tilly. I was heart broken cause I knew that was the last straw with Tilly. She's been such a great dog and an amazing companion for me through some rough times. Always there when I was home alone and protecting me from anything that may come by. I'll miss her so much. So that's why I've been a little behind on getting posts up but I'm back and ready to get to work.
My kitchen has stayed clean and dishes have stayed down to a minimum. How are yours holding up? Any new tips I can use especially during these holiday season when I'm cooking so much?

Cleaning

So I've ran into the problem of trying to get my house clean as a new mommy. It's been such a struggle. The laundry is never done completely and I don't get to a new load until my husband is out of clean underwear. The dishes pile up and it takes two loads in the dishwasher before they all get done. I always feel like the house is a mess and I never get to those things that I want do like that decluttering that extra bedroom or getting our storage under control. I'd even love to take the time and get more scrapbooking done. So I've come up with a few things that's going to help me get more organized and cleaned up in my home.
One goal is to always have the dishes done after dinner. This is where I'm going to start this week, my kitchen. I always feel like the whole house is a mess when just the kitchen is and since we are trying to save money I'm always cooking from scratch which means the kitchen is very well used and cooking in a mess kitchen is such a pain.
So starting tomorrow I'm cleaning the whole kitchen and making it a goal to have all the dishes done before we head to bed!

What's your tips on keeping the kitchen clean? How do you get the family involved (including dad) with cleaning up after dinner? Does everyone put their own dishes away? I'd love to hear all your great ideals.

Movie Night

Bring back the old memories of cuddling on the couch together to a nice movie. Make it cheap by borrowing a movie or going to the red box. You can always pop your own popcorn and enjoy. I know this is one my mine and my husbands favorite things to do and although it doesn't sounds that big and exciting, just taking the time to be with each other is a big start.

What's some of you favorite movies to watch together?

Coupons

So to start off with this category I think is where to find coupons. This topic is so big and I could go on forever about it but I'll keep it simple to start and then we'll work our way into more details.

Sunday paper
So where do you find coupons? We'll I have 5 Sunday papers come ever week, that is were I get most of them. The reason for five you might ask...when you get those good deals it's great to have five so I can stock up on them instead of having to run to the store every time I run out. Food storage (and even diapers and formula) is a great way to save cause how many times do we end up running to the store for some wipes and have to pay full price.

Printing coupons
Printing coupons can help a ton with those last minute coupons you might need and can't find in the paper right away. I often times go to coupons.com they are one of my favorites. You can always check your favorite brands web page, so if you are a Gerber girl head straight to their web page and check for a coupons link (they often try and hide it or make it really small so it's harder to find but most have them). I also love Targets coupon page. Many times they have manufactures coupons right on their web page. Now Target can get a little tricky but very beneficial cause you can use a manufactures coupon and a Target coupon with the same one item. How might you tell which is which, check the top left side. In a little bar it will say manufactures coupon or Target coupon ( or if it's another store coupon it will have their name there).

Electronic coupons
I love using electronic coupons cause there is no cutting out coupons just click and save. My favorite is the smiths (connect your Smith's card online ).

If you don't have a Smith's near you check out shortcuts.com. They have many store options doing the same thing, all you do is add your members card so when they scan your card you start saving (they also have printable coupons there to check out).

Lastly they have this pretty sweet thing where they help you start saving for your children's education it's from Upromise.com . Add your Grocery Cards to your account. AND, add your debit or credit card to the account too. (Whichever card you pay for groceries with.)
Click on the Coupons and Deals tab. Then, click on eCoupons. You can click on the coupons that you want to be added to your card.
UPromise eCoupons will not come off of your grocery bill. Instead, they will be added to your cash back amount at UPromise. You can keep the money in the account to save for your child's college. Or, you can request a check back if you want!
They also offer even more cash back when you register your debit card/credit card with them. Every time you use it, they will give you a percentage back! So, you are essentially saving even more money every time you use your card!

I hope this helps you out in getting started. If you have any question at all feel free to ask. No question is too small...happy saving!

Snow Day!

So here in Utah we've had a lot of snow so far and I know there is more to come (at least I'm hoping so for Christmas). So here's an idea for you and the kids.

Put some food coloring and water into a spray bottle. Make as many colors as you want and head outside and make snow sculptures. You can make anything from an alligator to fish to dinosaurs. Let their imaginations run wild! I'd love to see pictures of what your kids have come up with! Send them in and I'll post them for everyone to see!

Turkey Rub

So I'm excited to tell you this awesome rub for a turkey. It's in the oven right now and smelling so good. My mom did it for Thanksgiving and everyone loved it.

1 c butter (or margarine)
1 Tbsp Fresh Rosemary
1/2 c mustard
1/2 tsp salt and pepper
1/4 c orange juice

Just rub on the turkey and enjoy! (make sure to rinse and pat dry) I can't wait to take a bit out of ours!

Getting Started

I am so excited to be doing this to keep me on track and getting new ideas from all of you. I'm new to this mommy thing and I want to make the best of it all. My little girl just turned one last week and I'm already behind but better late than never is my motto. I'm hoping to get some great ideas for a well rounded life stay that can keep me and my family happy and healthy.
A little about me...I am married to my sweetheart Eric. We are coming up on our three year anniversary. As you know we have a little girl that just turned one. My husband right now is making his way through ROTC schooling and hoping to become an officer in the Army. We are living off very little right now so I'm here to do my part in helping our family stretch our dollars a little farther while still enjoying our time together.
